Robert Frost, 1874-1963
Book: Poetry for Young People: Robert Frost. This book includes a biography and 29 poems divided by season (summer, autumn, winter, spring). The illustrations are beautiful, and Frost's poetry made us want to curl up on the sofa and read a spring poem with the windows open or a winter poem while sipping hot chocolate. "A Girl's Garden" provided my daughter the opportunity to examine human nature and the temptation to exaggerate one's accomplishment while minimizing others'. I'll not forget the several weeks when it snowed here in Kentucky, and my son would look out the window for a patch of old snow, with the dirt flecking it like newspaper print. My four year old enjoyed acting out the part of the bluebird, flitting around the room and coughing enough to shake his tail feathers off. This book is a delight and would be a wonderful addition to your library.
