Miss Mason Soulrority
Meeting Location: Rotating meeting locations in the Huntington, WV, Ashland, KY and Ironton, OH areas
Community Description: Miss Mason Soulrority is a sisterhood of kindred spirits contemplating all things Charlotte Mason. Our community meets the first Friday of each month (rotating locations) at 2pm for a CM mom's book study. For the 2017 calendar year, Miss Mason Soulrority is studying the 1st volume of the Original Homeschool Series, Home Education. Miss Mason Soulrority also has a Natural History Group for our member's children to gather and enjoy the outdoors together.

Overstone Cooperative School

Community Description: Overstone Cooperative School is the co-op upon which this site (CharlotteMasonInCommunity.com) is based. Founded in 2012, Overstone has evolved from info sessions to a book study (ongoing) to a cottage school to a cooperative school for all ages. Overstone is a ministry of Wellington Church in Nicholasville, KY. Membership is limited and application-based. Membership applications are accepted in March of each calendar year, with membership decisions made in early April. You can see a sample of the application and parent handbook on this site, but the official application and handbook can be obtained by emailing the school. Our Lower School includes Forms IB, IA, IIB, and IIA. The Middle School includes Form III. The Upper School includes Form IV, V and VI. We also offer a imaginative play-based class for 4/5 year old children of teachers and volunteers. Overstone offers a relational education based upon the philosophy and methodology of Charlotte Mason. We utilize a curriculum which surrounds the child with beauty, nurtures the intellect and soul with vitality, and allows time for reflection. Past examples of the feast include Shakespeare, Composer Study, Geography/Map Study, Historical Biography, Natural History, Nature Study, Picture Study, Literature, Greek Myths, Drill, Folk Dancing, Recitation, Poetry and Citizenship (Plutarch).
