We only had Forms 1-3 (ages 6-13) during this session. Teachers modified lesson plans depending on the age.

Nature Study (long nature walks in the meadow behind the facility; studied specimens we found (i.e. owl pellets, woolly worms, Carolina allspice, goldenrod)) and painted these into our nature notebooks using dry brush watercolor

Composer Study
Read and narrated the biography of Composer John Williams. Learned about sections of the Orchestra, demonstrating each section using selections from film scores by John Williams.

Imaginative Play-based Class
- Sing "God Bless America"
- Listen to (and learn) the Pledge of Allegiance
- Family share time (child can bring nature specimen or favorite book to share)
- Listen to stories and poetry with rich, literary language
- Nature walk, in all but inclement weather, and learn the names of the local plants, insects, and animals they encounter.
- Notice the position of the sun and shadows, locating north, noticing how water runs, etc.
- Tend a garden (indoor or outdoor, as weather permits).
- Color, play with clay and blocks
- Dressing up and play acting
- Develop observation skills and vocabulary through "sight seeing" adventures around the facility
- Creative play
- Listen to music (J.S. Bach); look at fine art (bird and animal pictures by John James Audubon)
- Simple crafts/activities (finger knitting, peanut butter/bird seed pinecones)
